About Me

My name is Lisa Murphy, and I grew up in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It was here that my love for the outdoors and adventure was born and nurtured. Since leaving “The Big Land,” I’ve embarked on many remarkable journeys, including a seven-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces and five years of post-secondary education, earning a Bachelor of Physical Education and a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. I also spent five years teaching junior high in Fort Chipewyan, a hamlet on Lake Athabasca, Alberta, and I currently teach physical education in the Northwest Territories.

In my personal time, I am deeply committed to my community, volunteering as a hockey coach. I have a passion for camping, canoeing, reading, and journaling. Besides teaching, my second greatest passion is travel, which inspired the creation of this website. Before COVID-19, I aimed to visit 40 countries before turning 40. The pandemic temporarily halted my progress, but I currently stand at 37 countries visited. Now, at 41, my new goal is to reach 50 countries before I turn 50.
